SH S1E23: Planet Comicon Recap & Thundercats Fan Cast

With our hometown comic con over, we recap KC’s largest comic convention, Planet Comicon. We talk about our experiences, how the convention has changed over the years, among other details. Then we switch gears to talk about the classic animated series, Thundercats and who we would cast in a live action feature film adaptation. The original show ran from 1985-1989 with a short resurgence in a completely new version from 2011-2012. Talks of a live action film have been going on for years with even a fan trailer being made. Most recently, Michael Bay’s name has been attached due to some comments he’s made. Join us as we cast the major players like Lion-o, Panthro, Jaga, Tygra, Cheetara, Mummra, and of course, Snarf.

Don’t forget to join us live every week on Twitch at 8PM CST! You can join the conversation and be part of our podcast by chatting with us live! You can also catch the uncut broadcast on our YouTube page.

Just want to listen? Subscribe to us on iTunes at Screen-Heroes.com and drop us a review! Ratings help people find our series, so we’d truly appreciate it.

Finally, follow us on social media! We’re everywhere and need your help getting the word out. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, Twitch, and contribute to our Patreon so we can get better equipment and provide even better coverage.

SH S1E22: Broforce & Action Films

With Rae unavailable this week, Ryan and Derreck bring in their friend Jon to play some Broforce on the PS4. For those who don’t know, Broforce is a Indie platformer where you play as various classic action stars including Terminator, Rambo, Robocop, and even some new surprises. There’s tons of characters that you unlock as you rescue hostages. The game is very tongue-in-cheek and plays off the classic 80’s action stereotypes. As we play the game, we talk about the various characters we play as plus their films. For example, when playing as Will Smith’s Agent J from Men in Black, we talk about our thoughts on the franchise’s third film.

If you’re interested in the game play, check out our video on Twitch.tv\griddaily or YouTube.

Don’t forget to join us every Tuesday night at 8PM CST on Twitch to watch us record Screen Heroes live! And if you like what you see but think it could be better, help support us at Patreon.com\GridDaily. Every bit helps so we can get better equipment like cameras and microphones!

SH S1E12: Ghostbusters Trailer Reaction

This week is our first reaction episode. We sit down and watch the new Ghostbusters trailer live on the podcast and then break down our thoughts. We discuss what the trailer does for the upcoming film, including thoughts on humor style, special effects, music, and casting choices. We also talk about whether the earlier parts of the trailer imply that Ghostbusters is not a reboot but actually a long-lost sequel to the original 1984 film.

We even took questions from our live internet audience! How?

Well, to add to the fun, this is the first time we also hosted a Twitch live stream of us recording the podcast! That’s right, for the people who follow us on Facebook and Twitter, they were altered that they could join us on our Twitch channel to ask questions and watch us live! This something we’ll continue to do, so hopefully you’ll join us next week!

We also announced that this is the LAST episode of Screen Heroes to be dual published on the Grid Talk RSS feed and that Grid Talk is returning this Friday in a new format that will also include live streaming! So, stay tuned and join us Thursday night for a live recording of a new episode of Grid Talk!

SH S1E8: The Grid Daily Update

Preview: “I Ship It” Web Series Debut

Here at The Grid Daily, we are always trying to come up with new ways to express our fandom. That’s why, beginning Tuesday, February 9th, we’ll be debuting our new web series I Ship It hosted by me (Rae of the Super Sirens)!

What’s the new series about? Every week, I’ll match-up two fictional characters whom I believe would just make the best couple ever. I’ll also take suggestions from viewers!

Now, these fictional characters can really be anyone from comic books, movies, TV, novels, etc. In Season 1, I’ll be focusing on comic book characters, primarily superheroes. So expect to see me Ship people from DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and more.

Why is the series called I Ship It? The term to “Ship” two people has been around for a little while and is basically short for “relationship”. Urban dictionary defines “shipping” as:

A term used to describe fan fictions that take previously created characters and put them as a pair. It usually refers to romantic relationships, but it can refer platonic ones as well. (Just think of “shipping” as short for “relationSHIP”.)

So, while Superman and Wonder Woman have been together at times in comic books, I’ll focus on some pairings that might not have been as obvious or provided enough development. I’ll also provide some pairings that you may have never considered.

I Ship It Logo

I Ship It is going to be a weekly web series via The Grid Daily’s YouTube channel. New episodes will go out on Tuesdays with the first one being February 9th. Be sure to head over to our YouTube page and subscribe to you’ll be the first to know when new episodes premiere.  Haven’t subscribed yet? You can do so here.

Our YouTube page includes lots of other great videos like unboxings of subscription boxes like the Funko Marvel Collector Corps and Smuggler’s Bounty, as well as our Twitch video game broadcasts.

I Ship Batman and Zatanna

That’s it for now. Please join me on Tuesday for our first episode where I match up Batman and Zatanna from DC Comics. And don’t forget to comment with suggestions of couples you’d like to see Shipped!

Check out our game play of the original Borderlands below, where Ryan (Screen Heroes and Buster Costumes and Props) joins me for my first play-through of the game.

If you liked our video, please subscribe to our YouTube page and our Twitch channel so you don’t miss our latest videos and game streams. We’ve got a lot planned including so classic video game play on consoles like the SNES and N64 as well as brand new games like Rocket League.
