Creatures can be creepy, scary, and weird BUT this week, we’re focusing on the cutest of the cute! We sit down to discuss the cutest creates on both the big and small screens! First we knock out some news including the Disney+ MCU trailer during the Super Bowl (GO CHIEFS!) that showed off Captain Falcon & the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki! We also talk the possible return of Rick Moranis and that poor school PTO that has to pay $250 for streaming The Lion King.

Favorite Special Effects in Film

This week, we talk about our favorite special effects in film! Consider this a sequel to our favorite practical effects from episode 115. This time, we focus on effects created with the assistance of computers and CGI dating all the way back to the early 80s up through some pretty modern stuff. We also talk about news including changes to MoviePass, Disney’s new streaming service, The CW’s new Batwoman, and so much more!

What do you think of our favorite special effects? Did we miss your favorite? We want to know!

SH S4E15: Jim Henson Spotlight

Jim Henson has brought us countless worlds populated by incredible puppets. Whether it was in Star Wars with the Jedi Master Yoda, the entire cast of The Muppets, Sesame Street, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, or any number of other films and TV series, Henson productions brought to life non-human characters that, in many cases, seemed more alive than their living counterparts.

This week, we bring in a NECA sculpting expert to talk about Jim Henson’s productions, styles, relationships with other creators, and movie special effects in general.

Don’t forget to check out our Patreon for a look at our first ever movie scene parody! We filmed a parody of a classic Pulp Fiction scene! Don’t miss it.

SH S1E5: Ziggy Played Guitar

With the passing of David Bowie this week at the age of 69 from cancer, we sit down to talk about our experiences with his music, film, and TV career. Join us as we talk about his vast range from Ziggy Stardust to The Man Who Fell to Earth to Labyrinth to The  Last Temptation of Christ to The Prestige. We also talk about his new album Blackstar. We used clips from the title song as well as “I Can’t Give Everything Away”, the album’s final track. We do this to set the mood and honor the final works of one of the most transformative and long-lasting vocal talents. We hope you enjoy our journey and take one of your own by commenting with your favorite David Bowie songs or roles.

“I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.” – David Bowie
