SH S1E20: Daredevil Season 2

Legion of Collectors Unboxing: March 2016

DC Comics fans, your long wait, and mine, is finally over. The first of the Legion of Collectors subscription from Funko is finally here! For those who aren’t familiar with the service, Legion of Collectors in a bi-monthly (every other month) blind box subscription service themed with DC Comics related items. The first month was themed for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film while the second month, May’s, is revealed toward the end of the unboxing video.

This service is similar to two existing subscriptions from Funko, Marvel Collectors Corps and the Star Wars themed Smuggler’s Bounty. For details on those, check out our Unboxing playlist on our YouTube channel, as we unbox those as well.

Please note, unboxing videos ALWAYS contain spoilers for the contents of the box as well as the next month’s theme. You have been warned.

If you’re still with us, catch the video below and subscribe to our YouTube channel for all of our awesome videos including I Ship It with Rae of the Super Sirens cosplay duo and our frequent Twitch streams with Ryan of Buster Costumes and Props!

Don’t forget to comment on the video or this post with your thoughts!

Smuggler’s Bounty Box #2 Unboxing

We continue our unboxing of the Funko\Star Wars themed subscription box, Smuggler’s Bounty. This month is the second month for the service and features the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Resistance box. Last month brought us the First Order box. Check out our video here.

There was a lot of speculation about what POP Vinyl might be inside and whether or not it was a flocked one. Be sure to check out our unboxing video below to find out what we got plus all of the other great goodies.

What comes in these boxes? For those who don’t know, the official Funko services are completely exclusive items. Everything in the box is only available in the box. Items include pins and patches, t-shirts, POP Vinyls, mugs, variant comic books, and other fun collectibles. While some of the items might look familiar (see Captain Phasma’s POP from last month), they are different than what is available at retailers. For example, the standard Captain Phasma is grey\silver but the exclusive Smuggler’s Bounty version is shiny chrome.

What did you think of this month’s crate? Was it everything you hoped for? Do you subscribe? Comment below with your thoughts on Smuggler’s Bounty box #2!

Smuggler’s Bounty Box #1 Unboxing

Smuggler’s Bounty is finally here! From the company that brought us the Marvel Collector Corps subscription box, Funko now enters the Star Wars universe with their Smuggler’s Bounty box. This month marks the first of the bi-monthly subscription service. While it was announced that it would include a chrome Captain Phasma Pop Vinyl, everything else is more or less a mystery. We know it’d be similar to the Marvel Collector Corps including a pin, patch, Pop stuff, and t-shirt but we don’t know what they are. So, I sat down to unbox our first Smuggler’s Bounty box to see what was inside! Take a look at the video below and then let us know in the comments if this is a subscription box you’ll be signing up for.

What did you think of the first Smuggler’s Bounty box? Did you like it? Did it meet or fall short of your expectations? Which Pop TIE Fighter Pilot did you get? Which t-shirt? Let us know in the comments below!

Grid Talk: 03 – Collectibles and Subscription Boxes

This week, Grid Talk is all about collecting, collectibles, and subscription boxes. We break down what we love to collect. Then, we take a walk down memory lane to discuss what got us started down the collectibles path. After that, we break down the recent surge in subscription box offerings including a dive into LootCrate as well as Funko’s growing line of offerings thanks to the Marvel Collector Corps, upcoming Star Wars themed Smuggler’s Bounty subscription, and the announced but unnamed DC Comics box. With nerd culture becoming so mainstream and major franchises like Marvel, DC, and Star Wars seeing insane amounts of money and success, collectibles are becoming higher quality, harder to come by, and more varied.

What do you like to collect? Do you collect action figures? Comic books? What are your thoughts on subscription boxes? Have you tried any of the non-collectibles services that provide food, clothing, or pet items? Comment below!
