Our DCEU – The Batman

Our DCEU Playlist

Back in June of 2018, the Screen Heroes podcast decided to take on the DCEU and create their own vision for the cinematic universe.

We began with a rewrite of the first entry, Man of Steel, followed by Batman v Superman. After that, Our DCEU diverted from the WB movies. We decided that our story could do justice, pun intended, to a Justice League Dark story. After that, we gave Shazam his solo film prior to the release of the actual Shazam movie in March of 2019. That solo flick was followed-up with our version of a Justice League movie. Then, we called an audible and pitched our vision for The Batman in the wake of the casting rumors.

Our DCEU: Justice League

Our DCEU: Justice League Dark

We continue our DC Universe ReWrite with Justice League Dark! If you missed our first two DCEU ReWrite episodes, please see episodes 119: Man of Steel and 123: Batman vs Superman. We left the DCEU in a very different place and decided that the next logical step was actually a Justice League Dark movie rather than a normal Justice League. We also talk news including the new Oscars category, Tessa Thompson joining Lady and the Tramp, the dumpster fire that is MoviePass, and more!

What do you think of our Justice League Dark movie? Do you like the direction our own DCEU is taking? What do you want to see us ReWrite in the future? We want to know!

Our DCEU: Batman v Superman

Costume Couture: Joker Spotlight

What’s a Harley without her Joker? As chosen by you, The Joker was our next character to receive a spotlight. Donning the purple and green since the 1940’s, we chart his evolution from the joke of the Batman rogues to the king psychopath he is today.  We run through our favorite comic book looks and which films we preferred him in. And just like last time, we talk about some of our favorite cosplayers like Harley’s Joker and Vendaros.

SH S4E19: Justice League Movie Review

Justice League has landed and so it’s time to talk about all that we liked and didn’t for the latest DCEU film. Synder and Whedon brought together DC Comics’ most iconic heroes including Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash,  Cyborg, and Aquaman! Did the movie pull it off or is a bust for Warner Bros?

SH S4E19: Justice League Movie Review

SMT06: Batman, Spongebob, Thin Mints

This week is a bit of a change. Not only are we recording on a much worse mic (sorry), but the part of Danielle is being played by Jeremy’s girlfriend Erica. While not the cartoon obsessive Danielle is, she is a proper comic nerd and totally obsessed with Spongebob, which was her pick for the podcast.

We watched an episode of The New Batman Adventures where three kids swap stories about The Batman, including a one that is pretty much a kiddie version of Frank Miller’s Dark Knight. This pick was ostensibly in honor of the release of Justice League. Why not do an episode of Justice League, you might ask? Well, it wasn’t free on Amazon Prime and time was a factor.

Erica got into the superhero spirit and picked an ep of Spongebob Squarepants where he tangles with the utility belt and invisible boatmobile of none other than Mermaid Man himself. We learn all about Erica’s obsession with “Wumbo” and the declining mental state of Ms. Puff.

We also check out a Girl Scout Thin Mint cereal from General Mills that… well… is bad. Spoiler: It was weird and gross.

Are you a fan of Spongebob Squarepants or Batman the Animated Series? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter @HeroesPodcasts!

SH S4E18: Ranking the Batman at KCCC

Costume Couture: Harley Quinn Spotlight

Harley Quinn has quickly become one of the most recognizable and iconic DC Comics characters even though she’s only been around since 1992. As a character who debuted in Batman: The Animated Series, she’s had to overcome her non-comic book origin but has done so with flying colors… at least, black, red, and white.

This week, we discuss many of her different looks over the years from her original debut, her Margot Robbie Suicide Squad version, Injustice video games, and more. Then we talk about some of our favorite Harley Quinn cosplayers like Jessica Nigri, Triple Diamond Entertainment, Thousand Faces Cosplay, just to name a few.

Hosted by
Rae of SirynRae Cosplay
Ian of Haus of Turner Cosplay
