We’ve got a ton to cover on this week’s episode! In addition to our discussion surrounding Talos IV and  Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Episode 8 “If Memory Serves” and the return of “The Cage”, we also talk about the overall Star Trek timeline and where the events of Discovery fit in with the other Trek TV series. Plus, we try out a new segment that brings about a DS9 discussion.

We’ll be back next week to review Discovery Episode 9 “Project Daedalus”!

What did you think of the new Talosians? Are you glad we returned to Talos IV? Did you like seeing “The Cage” officially recognized in Discovery? Did you enjoy our new Memory Alpha segment?

Talos IV and the Timeline

Light and Shadowed by General Order 7

It’s a big news week in the Trek fandom with pre-production moving along with the unnamed Picard series with news on directors, casting, and possible series titles, plus some about Discovery’s future! Then we turn our attention to the episode of the week, Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Episode 7 “Light and Shadows” which provides our first look at Spock, a new temporal anomaly, a Matrix cameo, and a ton of troll arguments about General Order 7. So strap in, put on your time seatbelt, pop your time popcorn, and let’s time warp!

We’ll be back next week to review Discovery Episode 8 “If Memory Serves”!

What do you think of the new director and casting news for the Picard show? Should the series be titled Star Trek: Destiny?

What are your thoughts on “Light and Shadows”? Do you feel that Discovery is being held to a double standard by gatekeepers? What are you feelings about General Order 7?

RR07: Saru and Pandora

Saru gets an away mission but before that, non-corporeal aliens show up a lot in Star Trek. In fact, the Q and Voyager’s Kes are among some of the more well known energy beings. This week, we talk about our favorite non-corporeal alien episodes of Star Trek and we manage to cover three different series with our picks!

Then, we provide our spoiler-free thoughts on Star Trek: Discovery Episode 8 “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum”. We do pause for a moment and then dive into spoilers discussing the opening battle, Saru’s away mission on a familiar planet, and a return to the Klingon ship of the dead, among other things.

Come to Kansas City Comic Con November 10-12 and see us at booth #643! Three of the shows on the network will also be hosting live panel episodes! Hit up our Facebook page for details.

RR06 – Space Whales and Time Travel

It wouldn’t be Star Trek without a convoluted time travel plot, which Discovery delivers with episode 7, “Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad.” This week, we are joined by cosplayer and Trek aficionado Michael Nguyen (sitting in for Derreck). We start the episode with a discussion of our favorite time travel themed episodes with a TNG classic and a couple of chroniton-packed DS9 episodes.

Then, we take our discussion to the details and plot points of “Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad,” as well as some good-natured griping about the current state of pop culture criticism regarding Discovery. We discuss the music of Wyclef Jean, beer pong, and Trojan space whales. We also highlight our favorite Staments line so far, “As days go, this is a weird one.”

Join our three-man crew for a journey that will span decades, every episode, every series, every movie, and every possible timeline no matter how small.
