It’s a big news week in the Trek fandom with pre-production moving along with the unnamed Picard series with news on directors, casting, and possible series titles, plus some about Discovery’s future! Then we turn our attention to the episode of the week, Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Episode 7 “Light and Shadows” which provides our first look at Spock, a new temporal anomaly, a Matrix cameo, and a ton of troll arguments about General Order 7. So strap in, put on your time seatbelt, pop your time popcorn, and let’s time warp!

We’ll be back next week to review Discovery Episode 8 “If Memory Serves”!

What do you think of the new director and casting news for the Picard show? Should the series be titled Star Trek: Destiny?

What are your thoughts on “Light and Shadows”? Do you feel that Discovery is being held to a double standard by gatekeepers? What are you feelings about General Order 7?

SH S2E15: The Rise and Fall of Tim Burton

Happy October, everyone! We kick off the month of Halloween with one of our most well-known directors, Tim Burton. His latest film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children hit theaters this past weekend, so we sat down to talk about the Eva Green film while also touching Tim Burton’s most famous works, the good and the bad. We discuss what we love about his films and where we think he has gone wrong in the past and with his latest, Miss Peregrine.

We had some wonderful people join us for the live stream this week! They posed questions, comments, made jokes, and helped

SH S2E15: The Rise and Fall of Tim Burton

Alice Through the Looking Glass, trailer review

Fans of the 2010 Disney film Alice in Wonderland got treated to an all new trailer this week for the sequel film, Alice Through the Looking Glass. We have the returning main cast of characters, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as The White Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen. In addition to the returning main four characters we also have new additions for the villain Time, a half clock, half human being, played by Sacha Baron Cohen who has the ability to freeze time and go back and forth between different time periods, and the Mad Hatters father played by Rhys Ifans. Also returning are the voice talents of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, and Michael Sheen.

The new trailer opens with Alan Rickman’s character of Absolem talking and guiding Alice through a mirror and back into the world of Wonderland. We know from the original teaser released a while back that something has happened to the Mad Hatter and Alice must go back to Wonderland to try and save him from the villain, Time presumably. This trailer doesn’t show a whole lot of new footage or story plot elements but it does give us glimpses of the main characters, Time questioning Hatter and the March Hare about where Alice is and when she is meant to arrive in Wonderland, The Red Queen wanting revenge from her defeat in the first film and still wanting to cut off Alice’s head, Time turning the hands on a clock backwards and making Bayard the Bloodhound revert back to puppy, a very dark and scary looking Mad Hatter with dark circles under his eyes and grey streaks in his orange hair, and what seems to be an allegiance between Time and The Red Queen against Alice and her friends. The trailer is complete with it being cut to the Jefferson Airplane song “White Rabbit,” covered by artist P!NK. We still know very little about this movie but what has been shown looks very promising, and with Tim Burton now producing and James Bobin, director of The Muppets and The Muppets Most Wanted now in the director’s chair, along with Linda Woolverton returning to write the screenplay, this Disney sequel will surely be one to see when it opens in theaters on May 27th.

Check out the newly released poster and both trailers for the film bellow.
