SH S1E23: Planet Comicon Recap & Thundercats Fan Cast

With our hometown comic con over, we recap KC’s largest comic convention, Planet Comicon. We talk about our experiences, how the convention has changed over the years, among other details. Then we switch gears to talk about the classic animated series, Thundercats and who we would cast in a live action feature film adaptation. The original show ran from 1985-1989 with a short resurgence in a completely new version from 2011-2012. Talks of a live action film have been going on for years with even a fan trailer being made. Most recently, Michael Bay’s name has been attached due to some comments he’s made. Join us as we cast the major players like Lion-o, Panthro, Jaga, Tygra, Cheetara, Mummra, and of course, Snarf.

SH S1E22: Broforce & Action Films

With Rae unavailable this week, Ryan and Derreck bring in their friend Jon to play some Broforce on the PS4. For those who don’t know, Broforce is a Indie platformer where you play as various classic action stars including Terminator, Rambo, Robocop, and even some new surprises. There’s tons of characters that you unlock as you rescue hostages. The game is very tongue-in-cheek and plays off the classic 80’s action stereotypes. As we play the game, we talk about the various characters we play as plus their films. For example, when playing as Will Smith’s Agent J from Men in Black, we talk about our thoughts on the franchise’s third film.

If you’re interested in the game play, check out our video on Twitch.tv\griddaily or YouTube.

Don’t forget to join us every Tuesday night at 8PM CST on Twitch to watch us record Screen Heroes live! And if you like what you see but think it could be better, help support us at Patreon.com\GridDaily. Every bit helps so we can get better equipment like cameras and microphones!

Screen Heroes: On Sight – Tosin Morohunfola Interview

In our first Screen Heroes Special Episode, we interview the man behind the new short film On Sight. The film premieres on the big screen for a special two-day only event starting today! You can see the film staring Tosin Morohunfola (who also wrote and directed) at 6:30PM or 8:30PM tonight, April 30th or 4:00PM tomorrow, May 1st. It is screening at the MTH theater inside Crown Center in Kansas City, MO.

Here is the official On Sight synopsis below:

A seasoned Patrol Officer inexplicably sees the same man over and over again. How far would you follow your suspicions? “Be Careful What You See”

Tosin has been known for his theater productions but today we focused on film and TV including his new recurring role on Chicago Med, his appearances on Chicago Fire and Empire plus his first feature film Destination Planet Negro which is a classic sc-fi style film that tackles racism by writer\director Kevin Willmott (C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America).

Catch all the details here and then go see On Sight this weekend!

SH S1E18: “Would you Watch it?” Justice League Dark

With Guillermo del Toro officially off the DC Entertainment project Justice League Dark, we sit down to talk about who we would each cast as the many heroes, villains, and sign as the director for our version of the DCEU film. The three of us have very different ideas that include varying directors, lead actors, and overall plot. Catch who we put in the driver’s seat of Justice League Dark and then let us know if you agree with our casting or who you would put on the big screen instead!

Who is typically in the Justice League Dark? This mystical group of heroes tends to be led by Constantine and Zatanna with fellow heroes Deadman, Swamp Thing, and even Madame Xanadu.

Also, we provide some insight into a future contest where the winner will receive a Wal-Mart exclusive Black Panther POP vinyl! You’ll have to listen to learn more, so tune in!
