2018 Predictions & 2017 Look Back

The Gauntlet 01: Iron Man

Screen Heroes and the entire network are proud to announce a new weekly segment: THE GAUNTLET! Join Jeremy from Redshirts & Runabouts and Saturday Morning Tooncast and Rae from Costume Couture and Screen Heroes on their epic rewatch of the MCU films starting with Iron Man. That’s right, every week, we’re talking about one of the many stops on the road to Thanos and Avengers: Infinity War.

Our first episode is none other than Iron Man, the one that started it all. We’re not really reviewing the films, but moreover discussing what details a rewatch can bring. We’ll talk the casting, the controversy, and our favorite parts as we go through the next 18 weeks.

If you already subscribe to Screen Heroes, then you’ll get these bonus episodes every Sunday! Not subscribe? Subscribe today on Apple Podcasts, Blog Talk Radio, Spreaker, Google Play, or just drop in our RSS feed. All the links are below!

SMT11: The Simpsons and Holiday Rice Krispies

Special Christmas Episode! This week, we try to play with the format a little bit. Jeremy starts with a little Rice Krispies and Simpsons history monologue (a convention he shamelessly stole from one of his favorite off-network podcasts, Doughboys). We celebrate the holidays with a pair of Christmas episodes from our fave ‘toon, The Simpsons. The first one is a little light on the Christmas aspect, but the second is pretty deep into that present-filled world of candy canes and snow.

We also dive into a few bowls of the very colorful Holiday Rice Krispies which, as it turns out, are just regular Rice Krispies with food coloring.

Are you a fan of The Simpsons? Dumb question, of course you are. Let us know your favorite ep in the comments or on Twitter @HeroesPodcasts!

RR13: The Search for Spock

We wrap up 2017 by completing our Quentin Tarantino Star Trek movie pitch and reviewing Star Trek III: The Search for Spock! If you missed the majority of our Tarantino movie pitch, please check out Episode 12 but if you don’t have time for that, we do a short recap.

We’d love to know what you think of our Quentin Tarantino movie pitch as well as your thoughts on The Search for Spock. Did we do a decent job? What would you pitch? Did The Search for Spock bring Spock back well or was the movie a misfire after The Wrath of Khan?

SMT10: Nicktoons Out of the Vault Again [Part 2], Hot Cocoa Puffs

This week with our milestone TENTH episode, we head back into the mysterious Nicktoons bargain bin DVD to see what treasures it has to offer. After accidentally reading the episode titles off the DVD, Danielle goes first with a couple episodes of CatDog and Jeremy follows with a few episodes of Rocko’s Modern Life.

We discuss millennial woes, villain trios, and the dynamics of comic shop release dates. We recorded this one late at night and are both pretty low-energy. Let us lull you to sleep with our sleepy energy.

While we watch, we snack on some limited edition Hot Cocoa Puffs. Pretty good stuff.

Are you a fan of CatDog or Rocko’s Modern Life? Other Nicktoons? Let us know your favorite ep in the comments or on Twitter @HeroesPodcasts!

RR12: Quentin Tarantino Star Trek Pitch

With Quentin Tarantino behind the helm of the next Star Trek movie AND Patrick Stewart showing interest in returning to the role of Picard, your three hosts work together to pitch the movie we think could come from such a partnership. We get through the basic premise and the first two acts before running out of time, so be sure to check it out!

We’ll give you a hint, there’s a taste of “Yesterday’s Enterprise” mixed in with “All Good Things…” and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Curious?

Listen in and let us know what you think of our idea, how you think it should end, or what you would pitch for a Quentin Tarantino directed Star Trek movie with Patrick Stewart!

SMT09: Nicktoons Out of the Vault Again [Part 1], Trix

What lies within the mysterious Nicktoons DVD? Toon in to find out! Or we’ll just tell you. Danielle starts things off with the Nicktoon she couldn’t help but call dibs on, Ahh!!! Real Monsters, the scare-filled monster Nicktoon by Gabor Csupo. We watch an ep about Obleena’s human suit and one about a friendly bark-and-bite named Fungus.

Jeremy dives deeper into the mystery DVD to bring up a couple eps of Angry Beavers. Listen as we discuss beaver-based funk music and punch-based time travel.

We finish things out with a discussion of Trix, the Rabbity just-for-kids fruit cereal and how it’s betrayed Danielle’s memories of fruit shapes.

Are you a fan of Ahh!!! Real Monsters or Angry Beavers? What about other Nicktoons? Of course you are! Let us know your favorite ep in the comments or on Twitter @HeroesPodcasts!

RR11: The Wrath of Khan Review

We continue our Trek down memory lane with a review of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan! From the new uniforms, to the Kobayashi Maru, Eugenics wars, and space battles, we talk about everything we love about the classic Khan revenge flick, along with a few spots the film slipped up. It’s true. It’s not quite the perfect film but we’ll talk about that.

How do you feel about The Wrath of Khan? Where does it rank on your Star Trek movie list?
