The One About Joe’s Favourite Movie

The One About Joe’s Favourite Movie

I’m very pleased to tell you all that episode 7 of Kaiju Curry House is now live! You’re probably a bit tired of kaiju following all the action from Godzilla King of the Monsters, but this episode isn’t focusing on giant monsters destroying cities, we are taking a step back to a black and white creature feature of the 50’s and find out about Joe’s favourite movie, “The Create From the Black Lagoon”!

Depending on how much you like the smoothing voice of Joe, you could be in for a treat with “The One about Joe’s favourite movie”. In this episode Joe takes the lead and delves deep into The Creature From The Black Lagoon! Sadly, Alex is not present in this episode, but don’t worry, he will be back soon. I (Paul) mainly leave Joe to geek out through most of it!

It looks like my new segment titled “What have Kaij-You been up to?” is here to stay, so again we chat about what kaiju stuff we’ve seen since the last podcast.

As you (may or may not) know we have created this podcast not only because it’s fun for us to talk kaiju, but also because we want to engage with like minded people. So if you also love the film then please get in touch and share why, or argue why you don’t like this film…respectfully of course.

If you’re just discovering us, Kaiju Curry House is a new podcast series under the Heroes Podcast Network umbrella. It is designed to focus on all aspects of kaiju fandom, for those who grew up with it, or have just discovered it.

Puzzling Bonds

Apologies for the audio quality issues!  They’ll be fixed next week, we promise.  🙂

Also light spoiler warning for Undertale in the first half of the episode.  Just FYI.

This week, Thomas played Undertale on a livestream with no commentary! Kam is hopelessly addicted to manual labor and social interaction in Stardew Valley!  An eternal friendship is forged through an unlikely source: Tetris Plus. We also take some time to talk Super Mario Maker 2, and Sony and Microsoft playing friendly!  We recorded this podcast in the pouring rain and thunder because we’re CRAZY!

The One Where Mothra Finally Does Something Right

Episode 6 of Kaiju Curry House has dropped, so stop what you are doing and download it because Mothra has finally done something right!

You lucky people can have a listen to “The One where Mothra finally does something right”. In this episode we have a good old chin wag over GMK. That’s Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidora: Giant Monsters All-Out attack! Man, what a mouth full…and it doesn’t even mention Baragon. You’d think with a title like that it’d be a massive battle royale like Destroy All Monsters, but this is one of the most serious and unique Godzilla movies of the bunch.

We also try out a new segment titled “What have KaijU been up to?” where we chat about what kaiju stuff we’ve seen since the last podcast.

As you (may or may not) know we have created this podcast not only because it’s fun for us to talk kaiju, but also because we want to engage with like minded people. So if you also love the film then please get in touch and share why, or argue why you don’t like this film.

Peter Mayhew Tribute

Today on Echo Station we mourn the passing of Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew. Mayhew was of course known for his portrayal of the lovable Wookiee Chewbacca in the original trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, parts of The Force Awakens, and consulted on episodes 8 and 9 with Joonas Suotamo (The new Chewbacca) taking over the role due to Peters advanced age. Kris and Ian share personal stories about meeting Peter, we discuss a bit of Star Wars news, and we fondly remember the big walking carpet who is now watching over our Princess in the sky.

If you’d like to make a donation the the charity that Peter started follow the link: http://petermayhewfoundation.org

Picard & DS9 Doc

Schedule change! Due to a number of scheduling issues, Derreck goes it alone this week with a short episode to discuss big news from the upcoming Picard series as well as some information, spoiler-free, on What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Deep Space Nine, a crowd funded documentary from Ira Steven Behr.

We’ll be back next week to wrap-up Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 as a whole and talk about what we want and do not want from season 3.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu Review

Peter Mayhew, Novels, and News

Welcome to possibly one of the shortest episodes we have ever recorded for the station. Kris is out and not feeling 100% so she is taking a mental health day so Ian is bringing you all the news from across the galaxy. Like stated previously this is a shortened episode just focusing on some recent news including the passing of Peter Mayhew, the announcement of a new book collection, Journey to the Rise of Skywalker, and more!

We should be back to our regular length episodes in the coming weeks.
